Guide: Your data

Remove a device

Unlink it on Instances, and it can't read anything new.

Instances → Unlink

In your browser.

Cut off

The unlinked device

Erases eris's data when it next connects.

A new key

Your other devices

Carry on as before.

  1. On eris.talk, open Instances.
  2. Press Unlink next to the device, unlock with your account key if it asks, then Unlink for good.
  3. The next time it connects, it erases eris's data there, ~/.eris, and stops running in the background.

Lost or stolen? Unlink it straight away. It's cut off at once, and erases eris's data the next time it's online, even after days off. If it never comes online, it can't erase anything, so keep FileVault, or your disk encryption, on.

Repos and other files stay. If it never connects again, run eris service uninstall there and delete ~/.eris. Unlinking can't be undone.
